Mail from E-Litmus

This is further to your conversation with aseem a while back.

I have attached the agreement, go through and let me know in case of any concerns.

As mentioned, majority of our client (85%) only hire people from CS/ IT/ EC/ EEE/ Instrumentation branches. Hence, we do not appreciate people from civil and mechanical branches to write our test as we may not be able to serve them in an efficient way.

I have also summarized few of possible queries or doubts which you/candidates can have (enclosed below).

Q) What does eLitmus do?

eLitmus conducts a common All India aptitude test, pH Test. This test generally happens once a month in 6 to 10 cities. A similar concept is being now copied by bodies like NASSCOM.

Q) What is the pH Test?

As mentioned before – this is the most researched employability test in India. Read www.elitmus.com/ph_test for more details.

It’s a 2 hours test with 3 sections (Quant, PS, Verbal) with 60 questions in total (20 each section). The test is designed to measure your natural ability but still we recommend that you prepare for 3 days before appearing for the test.

Exams like CAT have adopted methodologies which were pioneered by eLitmus with a lag of 9 to 34 months.

pH Score is mandatory for all openings through eLitmus. pH Test score has a validity of 2 years during which a pH Score holder can apply to all companies recruiting through elitmus.

Q) When should I write pH test?

We recommend that 2010 / 2009 students take this test now. Candidates can visit for recent list of hiring companies at: http://www.elitmus.com/jobs

Typically, around 50-60 companies hire freshers through elitmus in a year.

Q) Tips to do well in pH Test

(a) Do not waste time mugging up formulas, all applicable formulas are provided in the question paper.

(b) The objective of the test is to measure your natural ability. Still we recommend that you prepare for 3 days - refer any standard aptitude material.

(c) Little guess work is fine but a lot of it will be heavily penalized. eLitmus has artificial intelligence software to determine it.

Q) How are guess makers or people with poor fundamentals tracked?

Let say a question is,
"What is the capital of USA?" with options (a) New York (b) Washington (c) New Delhi (d) Karachi.

It’s obvious that if a guy marks option (c) or (d) he is either guessing or fundamentally very weak. Anybody who marks (a) has some information but, it is incomplete. So all questions carry close wrong answer(s) and very far off wrong answer(s). Needless to say if a person marks far off wrong answer(s), mostly he is guessing or fundamentally very weak. Software with artificial intelligence patterns the attempts and decides the weight age of negative marking.

This is the reason why only 2 out of 3389 pH test takers selected by companies were let off. While the so called "great" companies using "great" tests end up having 80 times more wrong hires!!!

Let me know in case of any concerns.
